A Rare Opportunity for RBI Retirees
A delegation from the Reserve Bank Retirees Welfare Association (Bhopal–Indore) met RBI Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra during his brief visit to Indore. Despite a packed schedule, the Governor invited the group into the VIP lounge for a 20-minute discussion.
The meeting was conducted in Hindi, and his humility left a lasting impression.
Pension updation Proposal Submitted to Government
The Governor confirmed that the RBI pension revision proposal has been submitted to the Government of India. While the RBI recommended a higher percentage, a 10% increase is currently expected. This update brings hope to thousands of RBI retirees who have been awaiting fair pension adjustments.
Additional Pension for 80+ Retirees
The delegation raised the issue of an extra pension for retirees aged 80 and above. Governor Malhotra was receptive and acknowledged the importance of this proposal. This could be a vital step toward supporting senior retirees with rising expenses.
MAF IPD Medical Assistance Concerns
Concerns were shared about MAF IPD hospital bill deductions, especially when room charges exceed eligibility. Governor Malhotra evinced genuine interest in understanding the complexities of the scheme.
His response suggests a willingness to explore improvements in medical reimbursement policies.
Governor’s Personal Touch
The Governor remarked that had he known about the large retiree presence in Indore, he would have arranged a dedicated session at his hotel. This gesture reflected his warmth and respect for the retiree community.
