All India Reserve Bank Retired Employees Association (AIRBREA), Mumbai has written a letter to the Hon’ble Governor regarding issues concerning pensioners and family pensioners in RBI due to bureaucratic hurdles.
Highlights:
- On April 1, 2024, the RBI celebrated its 90th anniversary.
- The RBI has played a unique dual role as the central bank and a developmental institution for the Indian economy.
- Notably, the RBI transferred a surplus of Rs 9,75,118 crores to the Government of India between 2011/12 and 2023/24, a remarkable achievement.
Pension Matters:
- Retirees and pensioners express gratitude for the justice done during your Governorship.
- However, bureaucratic hurdles have prevented full justice in pension matters relating to RBI Pensioners.
- The primary demands involve the rightful update of pensions and family pensions, including the payment of arrears.
- Despite statutory provisions (such as the RBI Act, 1934, and RBI Pension Regulations, 1990), pension updates have not been implemented.
- The periodic pension revisions supported by Supreme Court judgments and constitutional provisions have been disregarded.
The welfare of RBI pensioners is crucial, and we hope that the relevant authorities address these concerns appropriately.
