The Government of India has issued a Gazette Notification on, NOVEMBER 8, 2023, incorporating suitable amendments in the Pension Regulations for the family pensioners of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This is a long-awaited relief for the family pensioners who have been facing difficulties in getting their pension updated and enhanced.
Pension Regulations Amended
The Gazette Notification has made, among others, the following changes in the Pension Regulations:
- With effect from 1st March 2019, the family pension payable to the spouse of a deceased employee of RBI shall be at the rate of 30% of pay uniformly subject to minimum of ₹9,000 per month, and a maximum of 30% of the highest pay per month in the Bank.
- Bank will soon issue detailed instructions to offices for updating the family pension and the members will be informed of the instructions thereafter.
The Gazette Notification is a welcome step by the Government to address the grievances of the RBI family pensioners and to ensure that they get their due benefits. We congratulate them on this achievement.
