Bank held virtual meetings on 15th September, 21 with Retirees Associations to get feed back about the problems being faced by members in respect of Group Mediclaim Policy under MAFS (hospitalisation). Associations at different centres viz Chandigarh, Delhi, Dehradun, ,Jaipur, Jammu, , Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna and Ranchi took part in the meeting. Other than HRMD (C.O) officials, Insurance brokers, TPAs, local medical desk staff were also present during the meeting.
Concerns about the following were expressed by the representatives of participating Associations.
- Engagement of IFFCO TOKIO Insurance company this year, despite reservations expressed, citing examples of the high handed and insensitive manner of handling hospitalisation cases by the Company.
- Removal of clause of pro rata settlement of bills.
- Delay in pre-sanction approval at the time of admission.
- Arbitrary Initial sanction of amount disproportionate to the estimated cost of treatment.
- Delay in approving the bills sent by the hospitals at the time of discharge of patient.
- Hard copy of bill settlement advice not being given to the patient at the time of discharge.
- Low room tariffs in view of the market position.
- Helpless attitude of TPAs whose representatives lacked authority to remedy wrongs.
- Extension of OPD facility to all retirees .
Bank noted the concerns and suggestions.
