Bank has updated the Master Circular on Medical Assistance Fund Scheme (MAFS) in the light of the instructions issued till date. A copy of the circular has been uploaded on EKP site.
Offices have been advised to make available copy of circular to all retirees’ associations.

Group Mediclaim Policy (GMP) for Retired members of MAFS:
The Group Mediclaim Policy (GMP) to cover the hospitalization expenditure of retired members of MAFS covers only self and spouse.
… the dependent children included under MAFS, will not be covered under the Group Mediclaim Policy (GMP). The medical claims on account of hospitalization of such dependent children may be reimbursed to the retired members on the same basis as applicable under the GMP. However, no cashless facility will be available in such cases.
Bank’s contributions to MAF
The Bank contributed ₹15 lakhs towards the initial corpus of the Fund in Effective from the year 2012-13 onwards, the same has been enhanced to ₹65 crore annually. Effective from the year 2014-15 the Bank’s contribution towards fund has been on the basis of actuarial calculation.
Every retired/ex-employee at the time of ceasing to be in the Bank’s service is given a unique identification number, the name of the Office maintaining his/her account and the name of the dispensary from where he/she can avail of dispensary facilities.
Help desk will be located in Medical / MAF Section of Offices/CODs to assist the retired members of MAFS.
All claims pertaining to the MAF members attached to an Office will be settled by the TPA designated for that Office irrespective of where the treatment is taken.

Eligibility of claims
Claims relating only to indoor hospitalisation treatment are eligible for consideration under the Scheme.
The difference in the amount between the eligible amount and actual paid amount for Room Rent/ICU /ICCU would be paid by Regional Office.
In the event of the insured utilising Room Rent higher than his/her limits, then,claims will be settled on proportionate basis. However, the minimum payment will be made as per PPN tariff irrespective of the higher room rent. (Applicable in death cases also).
In case of death of the insured during hospitalization or within 48 hours of discharge from hospital, full amount (excluding non-medical items) of the hospital bill will be paid irrespective of the limit of hospitalisation.
(vi) There is no limit on the number of consultation fees and doctors’ visit fees.
Expenditure incurred before a retired /ex-employee becomes a member of the Scheme will not qualify for assistance from the Fund.
Claims of the members are required to be submitted to the designated TPA within the stipulated time.
All claims are settled/ reimbursed as per terms and conditions of the GMP operational from time to time.
