There are primarily age-related eye diseases such as macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. Other common eye disorders include amblyopia and strabismus.
RBI issues regular circulars containing instructions and guidelines for retirees, among others, about (MAFS)-GMP and OPD Scheme for Pensioners, which directly have an effect on their well being. Needless to say, such circulars, which detail all aspects of the scheme or subject , ought to be exhaustive and extraordinarily lengthy. As a result, many pensioners in RBI and other banks with age-related eye disorders have been feeling difficulties while reading and understanding such unusually lengthy circulars.
Moreover, Bank also issues annual Master circulars about MAFS and Pension. Many a time, one may also need to refer to Staff Regulations, Pension Regulations etc.
All these reference materials are bulky and a challenge not only for those with impaired vision but also for those with normal vision. Retirees suffering from age-related eye diseases have to be dependent on others.
In this era of Information Technology, podcasts / human voice overs with Artificial Intelligence are a common feature and are freely available for use. Technology is meaningless if it is not used to mitigate the sufferings of disabled.
We also fail to understand as to why the bank has not initiated steps to address these human problems of retirees so far?
AIRBIOPF has made a beginning by uploading a video narrating the important features of OPD scheme for Pensioners (70+) to enable retirees to cope with such problems.
The video also contains helpful graphics and photos and is available on You tube. The link is here.
Members may give their feedback in the comments section given in description below the video.
So, we request the Bank to upload the podcast / voiceover version of the circulars issued for the benefit of retirees and such disabled employees on its website / EKP.
AIRBIOPF shall continue to post such videos in future to help retirees.
