Doorstep delivery of medicines from Bank dispensary:

Bank has introduced  a new system for the direct delivery of medicines to your doorstep, starting April 1, 2025. The system is in vogue at New Delhi Office for retirees aged 70 years and above. In terms of Broad guidelines annexed to Bank’s letter dated March 12 2025, the direct delivery system will come into force in all the offices for retirees and employees. This initiative aims to ensure you receive your medications promptly and efficiently, without the need for multiple visits to the bank dispensary.

Background to doorstep delivery:

This change has come about as part of continuous efforts to improve delivery of medicines from dispensary and related services. We also wrote a letter to then Governor, Urjit Patel, in the matter for improvements in delivery system. Retirees’ bodies/forums/ and individuals also raised the demand to supply medicines at doorsteps of retired members of dispensary.

What’s Changing in Bank dispensary?

Traditionally, you have been receiving your medications from the bank’s dispensaries. In cases where the required medicines were not available, or the dispensary did not have the facility to stock medicines, credit slips were issued. Now, with the new system in place, you will experience an enhanced level of service through the following changes.

1. Direct Delivery from Empaneled Pharmacies:

  Starting April 1, 2025, medicines will be delivered directly to your home through credit slips from empaneled pharmacies or agencies with a local presence. This means retirees no longer need to make trips to the dispensary for medications.

2. Wide Network of Pharmacies:

   Multiple pharmacies and agencies will be empaneled to ensure that you receive uninterrupted service, regardless of location. This also helps avoid dependency on a single pharmacy, ensuring you get your medicines on time.

3. Hassle-Free Process:

   The new system is designed to be seamless. Once dispensary receives a prescription, a credit slip will issued and sent directly to the respective pharmacy. The medicines will then be delivered at home in sealed packets, either on the same day or the next day of issuance. For remote areas, delivery will be completed within a maximum of two days, at no extra cost.

4. Quality Assurance:

   Only the exact medicines prescribed by BMO/BMC or specialist doctors will be delivered, sourced from reputed pharmaceutical companies. Any alternatives will only be supplied with prior approval from BMO/BMC, ensuring you receive the best quality medicines.

5. Emergency Medicines and First Aid Kits:

   While the credit slip model is being implemented, emergency medicines and first aid kits will be kept in custody of BMO/BMC, ready for immediate use if needed.

6. Alternative system for dispensing medicines from bank dispensary:

A Committee has been formed to study the feasibility of an alternative system of dispensing medicines from the Bank’s dispensaries.

How to Avail the Service?

Here’s a simple guide to help you understand the new doorstep delivery system subject to detailed instructions to be issued by respective offices in due course :

1. Send Your Prescription:

   Continue to consult with your Specialist Doctors as usual. Forward the prescription for required medicines to dispensary as per the guidelines to be issued by offices.

2. Credit Slip Issuance:

   The dispensary will issue a credit slip for the prescribed medicines. Retirees don’t need to worry about handling the credit slip; it will be sent directly to the empaneled pharmacy.

3. Delivery to Doorstep:

   Sit back and relax as the medicines are delivered to home in sealed packets, ensuring their safety and integrity. You will receive your medicines promptly, without the need for any extra effort.
